Vostok company's story dates back to 1942 when one of Moscow's watch-making plants was evacuated to the small town of Chistopol on the Kama River. During the war years, the company's sole output was defense equipment, but as soon as the conflict ended, Vostok began manufacturing mechanical wristwatches, which have remained their primary production item ever since. In 1965, Vostok was appointed the official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union, a milestone year that marked the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch.

This military timepiece grew immensely popular, even among those unfamiliar with firearms, primarily due to its high precision, excessive reliability, and remarkable durability. The watch's functional and clear-cut design also contributed to its appeal, evoking a sense of belonging to the tough world of combat professionals. The experience Vostok gained through the development of the army watch laid the foundation for their next special model - the "Amphibian."

This impressive stainless-steel timepiece could withstand depths of up to 2,000 meters, making it a true wrist-mounted submarine. In 1996, Vostok forged a partnership with the US-based "Capital Trading" company, aiming to create a new generation of timepieces. The resulting watch, assembled for US sales using Sputnik TM technology, features a classic Vostok model with a 200-meter (20-bar) water-resistant design. The dimensions of the watch are approximately 41x45x15 mm, with a 22-mm lug size.

The watch is powered by an automatic VOSTOK self-winding movement with 31 ruby jewels, eliminating the need for manual winding. However, the watch can still be wound up using the winding stem if it has not been worn for some time. When fully wound, the watch runs for at least 31 hours. It also boasts an anti-shock (shock-resistant) balance, a central second hand, and a graduated rotated bezel. The hands and dots are luminous, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions.

The watch's clasp type is a tang buckle, and its item type is classified as a casual watch.
